(ATLANTA, GA) – U.S. Representative Rick W. Allen (R-GA) today released the following statement after qualifying for re-election to Georgia’s 12th Congressional District:
“Over the past year, the Republican House majority accomplished some great things for our nation, state and the 12th District of Georgia. Education decisions have been returned back to the state and local level by repealing No Child Left Behind and stopping the federal government from forcing Common Core on our school children. I kept my campaign promises and voted to send an Obamacare repeal bill to the President, to support a Balanced-Budget Amendment and to fight for term limits legislation. I supported immigration reforms that added more restrictions to those traveling to our country from Iraq and Syria, and I broke ranks with House Leadership by voting against funding for Obama’s Executive Amnesty plan. And most importantly, I voted with the district’s priorities in mind and secured critical funding for the U.S. Army’s Cyber Command at Fort Gordon, the Port of Savannah, and the Savannah River Site.
“We’ve championed many issues of importance, but there’s still more work that needs to be done. We must help our small businesses grow by reducing the heavy-hand of Washington and the overregulation from unelected bureaucrats. Families are paying too much in taxes and America needs a simplified tax code that empowers her people, not Washington. And we must confront the growing threat of ISIS and radical Islamic terrorists who threaten our way of life.
“You have given me the greatest honor of my life – representing you in the United States Congress. I look forward to continuing to serve the people of the 12th District and fostering an environment that will create jobs, grow the economy and reduce the size and scope of the federal government.”
