(AUGUSTA, GA)—The American people elected Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the United States. Rep. Rick Allen (R-Ga.-12) released the following statement in support:
“The American people have spoken—and they demanded change. The most powerful tool we have as Americans is our vote, and today voters chose to abandon big government, top-down Washington policies for less government, less regulations and a bottom-up approach,” said Rep. Allen.
“Like President-elect Trump, I, too, am a businessman. We both look at what works and what doesn’t—and if it doesn’t, then we change it. As we have all learned in the past eight years, this Administration doesn’t know how to do that, or worse yet—refuses to.
This President has stuck us with Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, the terrible Iran Deal and countless other irresponsible and reckless policies. This is why I think we need more businesses-minded people in Washington—and clearly, so does the rest of the country.
With new leadership in the White House and the House GOP’s “A Better Way” Agenda, which tackles six key issue areas—healthcare, national security, poverty and opportunity, jobs and the economy, tax reform and restoring the Constitution, I am hopeful that we can bring fiscal sanity and prosperity back to this country.
When I ran for Congress, I told you I wanted to shake up Washington. Electing Mr. Trump sent that same message loud and clear, and boy am I excited to work with our new President to jumpstart our economy, get America back to work, and restore America’s confidence in the future of this country.”
